Este filme conta a história de Don Jon, um grande sedutor que dá importância a poucas coisas na vida, que são a igreja, a família, os amigos, as mulheres, e os filmes pornográficos.
Don tem como costume sair todas as noites com os amigos e voltar para cada com uma mulher diferente a cada noite. Até ao dia em que conhece Barbara, uma linda mulher com quem começa uma relação, mas tempos depois acaba por fica solteiro.
Na escola ele acaba por conhecer uma mulher mais velha do que ele chamada Esther, ela é uma mulher sofrida devido ao acidente que causou a morte do seu filho e o marido. Esther e Don começam-se a conhecer e ela vai ser a mulher que o vai fazer apreciar mais o sexo do que os filmes pornográficos.
